The only way to be in full control of your site is to find a style of site you like and build "your" version from the ground up. If you have the time it is not an insurmountable task. Below is a collection of URLs to websites that can provide you with all the knowledge and programs, fonts, clipart, and images you will need.
A quick mention of fair use may be in order here. Some folks have a mistaken idea that everything posted on the web is "fair game" for use anywhere. Nothing could be further from the truth. Most postings to the Internet are "copyrighted" and can only be used under the terms stated by the owner. As an example "free clip art" may be limited to use on personal sites. Many folks feel that only the "big guys" are commercial sites. If you sell, directly or indirectly, products or information on a web site, it is a commercial site. Many free font or clip art services classify belonging to an affiliate program and posting a link to that affiliate program on a personal site as a commercial venture. Please, respect the conditions placed on the material downloaded.

Tips, Tricks & Secrets:
This section is last for a very good reason. You can't apply the tips, tricks and secrets if you can't build the site, or at least modify one built by someone else.
Images, Clip Art, Graphics & Photos:
Control the size and type of images; saves money and speeds page loading. Slow loading pages = lost visitors!
