There are several ways to get your site listed with some search engines for free. The number of engines is much smaller and there is both the set work and the follow up that will take time. If using this method, don't over promote - just once a month. More often (considered a form of spamming) and SEs may ban the site. Make sure the site meta-tags and keywords meet current specs.
